Home Church: Week 1

I wanted to document our Home Church experience and it seemed perfect to just type it all out. Our Bishop authorized all worthy priests in our ward to administer the Sacrament in their homes so we decided the best thing for our kids would be to try to make it like a regular Sacrament meeting and they LOVED it.

I wanted it to be a formal sit down with our family since we were not going to church so everyone had to be dressed and ready for the day; although, I thought it would be over the top to make them wear church clothes. (Spencer is wearing what he calls his "formal pajamas")

Look at these three angels all ready for church
Like I said, we wanted it to feel more formal so that the is would still feel like a Sacrament meeting and not just FHE so we took the time to do everything as close as we could (in a respectful way, of course). That being said, since we were sitting on the couch after all, I did sneak some pictures

After Sacrament Meeting, both kids were adamant that we needed to have Primary too so they went and got all of their friends and the LG was in charged of the lesson
We read Jacob 6 and he had us stop after every verse to talk about it. Everyone had to read along including the friends
After the lesson it was singing time and I was in charged of helping everyone learn Book of Mormon Stories (the Primary in our ward is learning all 8 verses with the actions this year and we were asked to practice at home)

This was just a special time for our family. The first thing that Spencer said when the announcement came that all meetings would be canceled was

"If only somebody would have prepared us to live a home centered, church supported life style emphasizing scripture study in the home. Then we would be ready for something like this".

How lucky are we to have the resources to be able to teach our families? I don't know if we are going to be following the same patter for our Home Church every week, but I am planning to continue to document it as we go.

Is there something you are doing that is working for your family? Anything you want to try? I would love to hear what are everyone is doing in their homes as we navigate this time.
